Michael Stock, one of the Part Time Punks, has been DJing for the past two years across the clubs of Los Angeles, including the likes of The Knitting Factory, Spaceland, The Echo, Silverlake Lounge, Tangier and The Vanguard. Often sharing a bill (and the stage) with a line-up of bands (Tuxedomoon, Metal Urbain, Fiery Furnaces, Beck, Clinic, Shellac, Of Montreal, The Books, Do Make Say Think). During the daylight hours, Michael is also a screenwriter and filmmaker, most recently writing the script for Lifetime Achievement Award, a piece to be directed by noted video artist and photographer Slater Bradley. This fall, Michael will be teaching a course at University of California, Irvine to an unsuspecting class of undergraduates. Seminar title: "Punk Rock and the Cinema".
Benjamin White, the other Part Time Punk, has been playing records in various living rooms, backyards and clubs for about 2 years now. He enjoys sharing grooves and noises many people haven't heard but will be intoxicated by. Other than DJing, he works at Amoeba Records in Hollywood....the country's largest independent record store....in the, er, vinyl section. He's also been a member of the semi-improv rock group, Gogogo Airheart since 1998, releasing 4 albums and a handful of singles. He has an detailed memory, overt sensitivity and generous and informative attitude.
Samuel Cooper aka Surfin' Sammy is in charge of the visuals, films, etc. at PART TIME PUNKS. When he's not showing us wonderful stuff or doing his bouncing around dancing, he can be found riding the curls and breaks on his surfboard, making out sounds and music with projects like Fans Of Collision and adding his magic to GoGoGo Airheart. Say hello to him next time you see him, he's such a nice guy.
